Krynica-Zdrój and its history

In 1783, a mining councilor came to the town to investigate and evaluate all sources. The opinion was positive, so a spa started to be built there. Exactly 10 years later, a government commissioner from nearby Nowy Sącz came to the town. He bought the land with the spring with the intention of making Krynica a resort. Although the first spa houses started to be built at that time, it actually flourished in the 1850s. At that time, a well-known Polish balneologist, Józef Dietl, operated in Krynica, who examined the healing waters. The spa was becoming more and more popular.

Artists flocked to him. An interesting fact is that Jan Kiepura, for example, had his own luxury guesthouse here. He came to see him every year. For this reason, the European Festival of Jan Kiepura.
