This phenomenon has been observed by American scientists - the bigger the reward, the worse the results of the work.

Above all, creative workers would like their work to be more casual. They expect irregular working hours, the possibility of using offices and laboratories at night. In a situation where they have no idea how to solve a given problem, they need rest and seek inspiration outside the workplace. The creation process is time-consuming and requires a lot of dedication. Creative people are aware that it will be necessary to work many hours over a period of time. Longer leave is required when the project is completed.

Offices and laboratories should be adapted to the needs of creative workers. A well-equipped kitchen, toilets with showers, a gym or an entertainment room are necessary for employees to feel at ease in the workplace. The organization that can be modeled on in terms of the applied social solutions is Google. The Californian corporation cares about its employees, and the available equipment even encourages them to work overtime.

Creative workers need to feel that they are developing and that their work serves a specific purpose. Therefore, one cannot accuse such people with tasks that will not have a greater impact on the company's results or better satisfaction of consumers' needs. It is worth creating internal rankings of employees and sending the best ones to trainings and industry conferences, thanks to which it will be possible to gain additional knowledge and perhaps observe solutions that are used in other organizations.

Creative workers and small business incentive systems

First, consider if your company has creative employees. Perhaps you have a talented programmer who not only deals with website maintenance, but would like to implement new solutions from time to time.

Then think about what the person you hired would expect. Talk to her and ask about her needs. Perhaps an IT specialist wants to improve himself in the field of advanced computer systems. Don't offer him another raise, but send him to a prestigious training course.

Observe the performance of a creative employee. If the solutions you used did not work, withdraw them and suggest something else. You can also go back to previously used incentives. Sometimes money also affects people who use conceptual skills.
