Checking position on Google - how to do it?

Service Business

Checking the position on Google is one of the most important activities performed by people dealing with website positioning on the Internet. On the basis of the data obtained, it can be concluded whether the applied solutions are effective.

Checking positions in Google is related to the monitoring of positions obtained for your SEO projects. This is usually not done manually, as checking the data available for several projects, sometimes with a large number of keywords, is extremely laborious. On the other hand, it is impossible to fully automate this process, because it is inconsistent with the regulations developed by Google, and moreover, the received data is often inconsistent.

Why is it worth monitoring the position of pages on Google

Monitoring the results of a website in Google search results is an important issue, especially since the company introduced significant changes in this regard. The display of information in maps has been non-linear for some time. The information displayed on one page covers a maximum of seven results, and what we get is not always the ones at the top of the list. In addition, your business must be signed in to Google+ Local to be listed.

In order to be able to check the position on Google, it is good to use a program that will not only handle the position in the above-mentioned Google+ Local service, but also offer several options for accepting the position.

Programs that help you check your position on Google

Currently, there are many box programs on the Polish market that allow you to monitor your position on Google both online and offline. These include, among others: Googlemon, Omni - CRM, Positionly, Seostation, and many others. These types of tools can cope not only with checking the position of a website on Google, but also have several other options that are also very useful. One of them is checking your position on Google based on different language versions. This option makes it possible to check the Polish version with maps in detail. Another, although unpopular in Poland, valuable way is to monitor your position in other search engines, such as Yandex, Bing and Baidu.

And so, for example, Googlemon can check the position of the site in two options with the extension .com and .pl.
Seo-Stat allows you to analyze the results for up to six language versions: .com, .pl,, .de, .no and .dk, and add more to the search options. The Webposition program is also a comprehensive tool for monitoring the history of phrases and website positions in Google, broken down into selected countries, cities and even voivodeships.

In turn, an excellent solution in terms of analyzing language versions is to use Web-Tools - a program that allows you to check positions in Google on the basis of many language variants and additionally allows you to check the Bing, Yahoo and NetSprint search engines. Taking into account the multitude of available languages, the greatest possible check is Positionly, which allows you to check positions in almost every language available in Google, Yahoo and Bing (here globally).

Checking your position on Google for recognizing places

For many phrases that are globally recognized, Google provides results associated with the place entry records. They consist of the letter of the map and the address when it appears in the results. Obtaining this type of data is, however, also possible through the use of position monitoring programs. Google treats this type of data as organic by default, which means that each domain is automatically included in the monitoring. The first page of search results usually has ten such entries.

These types of options are available in the programs: Web-tools, Positionly and SerpMonster. A good program that can analyze map results should focus on a few elements. It should allow the user to choose from the following options: all results considered organic, delete the map as long as ten items remain, and delete all results from the map. From the point of view of checking the position of a website on Google, the measurement depth is also important. The bigger it is, the better it is for the SEO positioner. A program that allows you to reach for data deep into a list consisting of hundreds of results can be considered an ideal, because only with such amounts of data you can freely determine whether the performed actions have brought the intended effect. In addition, the software should be able to check the list every ten results. Although this is standard in this type of program, for example Stat4seo allows you to check the results every hundred items.

Storing the history of achieved positions on Google

Remember that your position history can be kept for twelve months. For example, Googlemon will show the results from the last year, but data for different months are shown in the form of charts and tables for these periods. The online version of Web-Tools behaves in a similar way, but its script installed on the computer allows you to use the data stored on the server without time limits. Newer programs, such as Serpmonster and Positionly, give users the option of using free accounts that are only available for a given period, after which access to data disappears forever.

Usuallychecking your position on Google is done using programs that monitor site and link parameters in Google, download information from Alexa and download data from site explorers, for example Open Site Explorer, MajesticSEO or Ahrefs. Their integration is possible thanks to the use of an API key, which is inserted into the site explorer of your choice. Data is stored in many cases on the basis of a paid account (Serpmonster, for example, works on this basis).
