They are more likely to hire employees under a specific task or mandate contract than under an employment contract. It is easier for them to outsource a task when the contractor is to be a freelancer than to carry out a tedious and expensive recruitment process. In addition, entrepreneurs save in this way on insurance premiums and work allowances, such as a mobile phone or a car.

Freelancer can also derive many benefits from this work model. And maybe that's why so many people agree so quickly to the contracts proposed by employers. However, keep in mind that there are advantages and disadvantages to everything. After all, as many tastes as there are - different for everyone. And therefore, not everyone will find their way in freelancing, because it also has its downsides. Therefore, before deciding whether a freelance job is a good idea, it is worth looking at the disadvantages of this solution.

Independence, self-discipline - contrary to appearances, the lack of top-down supervision is not always an advantage. Not every person who wants to enter the labor market as a freelancer is able to skillfully organize his time and impose a certain rigor on himself, which is often associated with the chaos overwhelming his professional life. Saying what are you going to do today, do tomorrow it does not work in this case, because a freelancer must be a highly motivated person. Of course, no one is a cyborg working 24 hours a day and sometimes the so-called worse day, but then the freelancer should put himself in order: noh well, I didn't do anything today, but I have to work longer tomorrow. Full-time employees can simulate work, a freelancer has to WORK. Lack of motivation and self-discipline becomes simply destructive for this profession, because when a freelancer does not perform the tasks assigned to him, the client simply resigns from his services - after all, the client is our master. And you know what working at home looks like - there are so-called "Distractors".

You can lose many hours by accessing the Internet. Some also have to look after the children, which is also time-consuming. And thus another difficulty arises, namely the ability to separate work and private life. What other problems does a freelancer face?

  • No sense of security

Full-time employees do not have to worry about anything, because they receive a fixed remuneration, the employer pays all advance payments and contributions and cannot fire his employee overnight. Unfortunately, the freelancer does not have this comfort. This profession involves constant risk: will you gain regular customers and permanent orders, will it be profitable work, how much will there be, will the customer be satisfied with the service provided, etc. Freelancer must be STILL motivated and focused on his activities, otherwise he will fall into serious financial problems.

  • Inconsistent salary

Freelancer does not receive, like full-time employees, a fixed monthly salary. Money jumps into his pocket only after completing the task. In addition, it must be done in a timely manner and well - so that the customer is satisfied. Therefore, there is a risk of remuneration inadequate to the work performed - a dissatisfied client pays less or, in extreme cases, not at all (it all depends on the terms of the contract). Incomplete salary forces a freelancer to look for clients paradoxically - after all, he must somehow earn his livelihood. A full-time employee has the income necessary to meet basic needs. Of course, a freelancer can make a lot of money, often much more than an employee, but unfortunately he has to work hard beforehand.

  • Customers

It is true that a freelancer can select them and does not have to bother with unwanted contractors. However, in order to be able to afford to choose among customers, you have to have them at all, and this remains an uncertain issue. Therefore, a freelancer is forced to constantly look for them, and at the beginning also to work with not necessarily the best clients.

  • Multifunctionality

A freelancer is itself a sail, a rudder, and a ship - it sounds beautiful, but the brutal reality is no longer so beautiful. A freelancer also becomes a salesperson, trader, PR person, accountant, graphic designer - and sometimes becomes a malcontent due to the sheer volume of duties. Because, let's face it, that's a lot for one person.

  • No employee rights

Full-time employees have many rights, which are guaranteed by their employment contract, such as paid leave, benefits in the form of a mobile phone, car, etc. Freelancer is deprived of these rights. Unlike a full-time employee, he can take a vacation at any time, but no one will pay him for the time spent on rest.

  • Employer

A freelancer must recognize a client as an employer, and the latter usually can do more. It happens that, for example, he suddenly resigns from the services of a freelancer (meanwhile, a full-time employee has a certain period of notice). What's worse, a flawed customer may also not pay for the service rendered, questioning the quality of the performed order. There are also clients who use a freelancer (sometimes due to their economic advantage) in the so-called overtime, charging him with further orders or necessary corrections to already completed tasks. Freelancer is actually not protected against dishonest employer - also illness, pre-retirement age, pregnancy or motherhood is a serious problem when you do not have an employment contract. Freelancer is responsible for himself - every failure is his failure. For each failure to meet the deadline, confidentiality and authorship, it is charged legally or financially. Principals often take advantage of this fact, e.g. by deducting compensation from a freelancer salary.

  • Economic activity

Many freelancers decide to start their own non-agricultural business. Unfortunately, this step involves many obligations that must be remembered unconditionally. The first thing to do is to go through the entire bureaucratic procedure related to business registration and registration for statistical and tax purposes. Subsequently, there is a need to submit additional statements and notifications, which requires knowledge of the obligations existing in this area, and often even the use of professional assistance. In addition, it is imperative to keep your company's accounting records. And so a freelancer who decides to run a business must read tax and social security regulations as well as regulations regarding the selected organizational and legal form. There are also certain costs behind running a business - related to the registration of a business and registration for VAT purposes, as well as costs related to the maintenance of a bank account, bookkeeping and rental of premises - and these are only a few of them. It should also be borne in mind that not every business activity means success. Often the costs exceed the profits and the work is no longer profitable.

  • Provisions of the Civil Code

Freelancer is not left alone or outlawed. It turns out that it is protected by the provisions of the Civil Code, which largely limits the activities of the client.

  • Employment contract and civil law contracts

Sometimes employers exceed their powers. They hire a freelancer under a civil law contract, but in fact they impose their management on him - they force him to work in a place and time designated by them. However, in such situations, they have to take into account certain consequences, as the freelancer may seek their rights in the labor court. And these usually take the side of the injured person.

  • Principles of cooperation

The person using the services of the freelancer cannot impose on him the way of working. It is only important for her to fulfill her obligations on time. In addition, not only the customer can terminate the contract at any time, the freelancer also has the right to do so. When he is dissatisfied with the cooperation, he may resign from it.

  • Task

It happens that a freelancer is incompetent, does not engage in the task assigned to him and carries it out carelessly. He may also miss the deadline. Therefore, the client is never sure which freelancer he will go to. Meanwhile, he knows his employees well and can order them to perform a given task here and nowand, at your discretion, impose on them the manner of its implementation.

Freelancer - is this method of work good for everyone?

Being a freelancer is not only about benefits. Above all, it is hard work, which, apart from numerous advantages, also has a no smaller pile of disadvantages. Therefore, it should be remembered that freelancing often goes hand in hand with a life under constant stress. Therefore, not everyone should decide on such a solution. However, some professions are much easier to do without an employment contract, then the decision to freelance is justified.
