You can only apply for exemption from contributions until June 30!

Entrepreneurs who want to take advantage of the remission of contributions have little time to complete the relevant formalities. ZUS recently reminded that entrepreneurs from the industries defined by the anti-crisis shield may still apply for an exemption from the obligation to pay contributions for December 2020 and January-April 2021, by submitting an application for exemption from contributions.

Who can apply for exemption from contributions?

Entrepreneurs who have experienced the negative effects of COVID-19 in Poland may apply for the exemption from contributions. To take advantage of this exemption, the payer must meet the following conditions:

  • the type of predominant activity as of March 31, 2021 must be marked with the PKD code listed in the Anti-Crisis Shield;
  • the income from this activity obtained in one of the two months before the one in which the entrepreneur submitted the application was lower by at least 40% compared to the income obtained in the previous month or in the corresponding month of the previous year, or in February 2020 or in September 2020;
  • the entrepreneur was registered with the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) as a contribution payer before November 1, 2020;
  • by June 30, 2021, the payer will submit settlement declarations and personal monthly reports for the period for which he applies for exemption from paying contributions, unless he is exempt from the obligation to submit them.

Application for exemption from contributions

From May 4, 2021 to June 30, 2021 as part of Shield 9.0. you can submit applications for exemption from paying contributions for December 2020 and January, February, March and April 2021. An application for exemption from RZD-B7 contributions may only be submitted through the Electronic Services Platform (PUE) of ZUS. “We only submit applications in electronic form via the ZUS Electronic Services Platform by the deadline of 30 June this year. So there is little time to submit an application. [...] Companies that are required to prepare their own settlement documentation, also by 30 June should provide ZUS with settlement documents for March and April " - says Monika Kiełczyńska, the regional spokeswoman for the Social Insurance Institution of the Łódź Province. The application for exemption from RZD-B7 contributions should be submitted by PUE by midnight on June 30, 2021.

As part of the Anti-Crisis Shield, ZUS has so far provided support in the amount of approximately PLN 36.6 billion, including standstill benefits and exemptions from the obligation to pay contributions. This is definitely a big help for entrepreneurs affected by COVID-19. Importantly, people who have not used this help have little time to submit an appropriate application.
